Mask for an 18 year old's Party

A friend of mine has a daughter that is turning 18 and she wanted to have a masquerade party so I made her this mask ... the red & silver glitter over black paint is the base for the mask ....

Play Day

Jeri, Candy and Mary came over yesterday and we did some fun little projects .... just thought I would share .....

Altered Composition Book

yep another Birdie but no Christmas .... not that I am tired of doing Christmas things just that a group I am in is doing Birdie things for a Dec. lottery drawing and this is what I did for that ..... Grunge board bookplate frame (it's my first time using it and I think it's going to be a keeper), ARTchix Studio birds and K & Co. paper ....

Birdie

well I finally got the old camera recharged so I could take a photo and post it ...... The nest is made out of floral moss the cardinal is the little feather kind from China and the box/birdhouse is a K& Co. box that alphabets came in - recycle, reuse, safe the planet - just a little paint and some scraps of lace and soutache braid rub-ons and scrap of scrapbook paper for background .....

Our daughter now in her early 30's collects winged things for her Christmas ornaments this includes Angels, Fairies, Dragonfly's, Butterfly's anything with wings so this is in honor of her ....

Sweet Wishing Fairies

These little wishing fairies were found near my studio door so I just popped them into a new home and will take care of them for a while ... the bottles are about 2 1/2" high

Fairy dust in Beeswax

Life has kind of got in the way of my art but today I had a little time so I did a little beeswax work ... I collaged the background put the little fairy with paper petals for wings and the beeswaxed over it all then I took it to the heat gun and glitter .... heated the beeswax up till it puddled then added fairy dust (aka glitter) reheated it with the heat gun and held it up so it would drip ... I think it made a pretty cool looking ATC ..... what do you think

Rainy Day Work

I have been finishing up a House Tip-in Swap I am in and thought I would post one of them ... the roof is USArtQuest Mica chips that I adhered with their glossy PPA I also used there PPA to adhere the transparency over the image, worked really good ... click image to enlarge

Free Images for the Holidays

My son is in his mid thirty's and ever since he was born I have given him an ornament for Christmas ... at first it was no particular theme but I soon settled on "The Drummer Boy" for him - of course there has been years that I couldn't find anything in that theme and several years I couldn't make anything so I would get him "Nutcrackers" instead anyway in honor of him my first offering will be the silhouette and sheet music of "The Little Drummer Boy" ... click to enlarge

Red Rosin Paper - playing

Yesterday I went to my friend Kate's and we played with red rosin paper - the first time for both of us - she had been sent the paper by Elizabeth and we had discussed doing something similar to what Belinda had done .... so this is our results ..... Kate is in the process of trying to paper sculpt with it ..... I will let you know how that turns out ..... Oh the one on the far left is red rosin paper with nothing on it .... the others are metallic paint, some with white gesso put down first some with clear gesso put down first then some mixed with clear gesso and then the crinkled one was metallic paints and spray color washing .....

Netherlands Fairy

A sweet lady called Rini left a comment on my Mica Ornaments then I visited her blog and fell in love with her Fairy's .... so I had to do a fairy like hers ....... this is my Netherlands Fairy ... I used an image as well as butterfly wings from ARTchix Studio

Glass Ball Ornament

This is a flattened clear glass ball ... I put a transparency of music with this sweet little boy with the crown from Stampers Anonymous and some words from a Christmas stamp ... the crown is embellished with red stickles (glitter glue) and I hand colored his little Christmas outfit ... I love this little boy stamp and use it often he reminds me of a photo of my older brother when he was little ..... family and friends mean so much all year long but I really think of the at this time of year .... I am posting this on Inspirational Muse challenge site ... go on over and take the challenge .....

Theme Thursday - "boy"

Well this week the theme is boy and I have this awesome Paper Bag Studio image of this boy and the words say "a joyful spirit is evidence of a grateful heart" ... I just love this stamp and am so glad to use it again .... I did a collage paper technique that is in Somerset's Workshop 3 magazine page 12 by Rachel Emilie Jackson and used it for the background then used Cosmo Cricket - wanted - striptease and USArtquests Mica over it .... all of this makes a pretty neat card for Theme Thursday ....

Last project of Play-day

We made lovely ornaments out of Mica & images .... I did a little extra by embossing on my Mica also ...... this was such a great idea Jeri came up with ... I am going to be making several of these this year .....

Ok you have probably seen what they are doing with the Starbucks coffee hot holders ... but if not then here is a sample ...... we had a great time with these ..... since I am a Starbucks nut I borrowed this from Anna and just think you can be "Green" doing this .....
