One eyed wire work ...

Yep I said one eyed ... I had cataract surgery last Wed. and can't do much of anything in art since I have one eye near sited and one eye far sited .... it will be another 4 weeks before I can get glasses to make the far sited eye see things up close ... sooooo I am doing things kind of one eyed ...

This is some wire work I am working on for a mix media book I will be doing in July at a retreat, the theme is Woodland/Forest ... I have lots of ideas running around in my head so I am trying to get some of the ephemera done in advance so I can do the construction at the retreat ....

I am pretty pleased with my butterfly ... it's wire, diamond glaze (left to dry) then I painted, with a very small paint brush, alcohol inks for the colors and small wire with seed beads to decorate the body ... I may do another one when I get both eyes to see if I can get the wing proportions better

Wire jewelry

ok I have always wanted to do a better job on my wire jewelry work and at Shady Ladies Retreat I had a chance to learn form one of the BEST ..... Deryn Mentock .... she taught me a few tricks that will help me BIG time thanks Deryn ...... this is one I finished today, that I started with her, the diamond glaze isn't quite dry therefore a cloudy appearance of the wings .... it hangs on a sari silk chain ..... click to enlarge
